The Virginia Forensic Science Academy has concluded its 117th session, and Rockbridge County Sheriff Tony McFaddin announced that Investigator Kyle Gosney has successfully completed all requirements and graduated on June 12.
The Academy provides advanced training for crime scene investigators, equipping them with the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to properly recognize, document, collect, and preserve physical evidence for laboratory examination.
This intensive nine-week course combines classroom instruction with practical application, allowing officers to build on their experience and better utilize forensic science to serve their agencies and the criminal justice system across the vommonwealth.
McFaddin commended Gosney for his dedication, stating, “Kyle has proven himself to be a hardworking and detail-oriented investigator. This training strengthens his ability to bring solid, well-documented cases forward, and ultimately helps us better serve our community and hold offenders accountable.”
McFaddin also highlighted the significance of the team’s continued investment in training, adding, “This picture is proof of the investment we’ve made in doing things the right way. We now have seven Forensic Science Academy graduates in this office, and that matters when it comes to solving crimes and holding people accountable. Training and experience ensure we handle evidence properly, use the most up-todate forensic methods, and build cases that stand up in court.”
