MGCC To Host Roadruner Readiness Events

Mountain Gateway Community College invites recent high school graduates to jumpstart their college experience by attending the Roadrunner Readiness Open House. These events are specifically designed for both students already enrolled for the fall term and prospective students who have not yet registered but are interested in exploring their options.

The open houses will take place from 3 to 6:30 p.m. on two consecutive days on Monday, June 29, in the MGCC library on the Clifton Forge campus and Tuesday, June 30, in the Joe Wilson Workforce Center at the Rockbridge Regional Center in Buena Vista.

The Roadrunner Readiness Open Houses serve as a one-stop shop to help students smoothly transition into higher education. Attendees will have the chance to take guided campus tours, see classrooms and labs firsthand, and meet with academic advisors to ask questions and discuss their goals.

MGCC staff will also be onsite to provide hands-on assistance with financial aid applications, guiding families through the process and highlighting available scholarships and grants. For students ready to take the next step, advisors will help them map out class schedules and register for fall courses on the spot.

“Our goal is to remove the guesswork out of starting college,” said MGCC Associate Vice President and Chief Student Affairs Officer Suzanne Ostling. “Whether a student is already part of the Roadrunner family or still deciding on their next steps, these events provide the personalized face-to-face support they need to start the fall semester with total confidence.”

No formal RSVP is required to attend. Graduates and their families are welcome to drop in at any point during event hours.
