The Freedom Food Festival returns to downtown Lexington on Friday, July 3, from 5 to 10 p.m.
Lexington’s Main Street is converted into a community street and music festival featuring live music, beer and wine sales, desserts, kids’ meals, and a tasty Fourth of July-style cook-off competition. Admission is free, and the event takes place rain or shine.
The festival’s music and stage are arranged by Lime Kiln Theater and will feature performances from Cordovas, Mason Via, and The Late Night Stumblers.
Meal tickets may be purchased online at https:// freedomfoodfestival.com. Advance meal tickets cost $20, and reserved tables cost $300. Meal tickets will cost $25 on the day of the event.
The cook-off competition pairs area nonprofit organizations with local chefs and kitchens. This year’s pairings and offerings include:

• Friends of Natural Bridge State Park with C.H.E.F.S. Catering • Rockbridge Area Habitat for Humanity with Lexington Mercantile
• Rockbridge County High School Baseball Team with Pure Eats
• Rockbridge SPCA with El Muchacho Alegre
• Yellow Brick Road Early Learning Center with Lexington Catering Company
• Kid’s Meals from Hull’s Angels, Inc.
• Desserts from Friends of Rockbridge Swimming, Inc.

Additionally, alcohol will be available for purchase at participating restaurants for both inside and outside consumption within the designated outdoor refreshment area. Participating restaurants include Brew Ridge Taps, Haywood’s, Heliotrope Brewery, Juniper Lounge, Napa Thai, The Palms, Pronto Caffé and Gelateria, Sweet Treats, and TAPS.
The Freedom Food Festival is presented by the Lexington- Rockbridge Chamber of Commerce, Lexington & the Rockbridge Area Tourism, and Main Street Lexington.
