The Region 1C softball coaches handed out their postseason awards last week, and four Parry McCluer High School players were honored.
Sophia Bouchelle, Harleigh Fulwider, Kendall Painter and Caroline Watts – each a first-team All-Pioneer District selection – earned spots on the second-team All-Region 1C team, which was released last weekend after Region 1C rival Auburn lost in the Class 1 state semifinals to William Campbell, which would go on to win the state title.
Earning her selection in the outfield, Bouchelle, a sophomore, played in all 21 games during the 2026 campaign, leading the Blues with a .456 batting average, banging out 26 hits in 57 at-bats. Among those hits were three doubles and two triples, and she finished the season with 21 RBIs and 19 runs scored.
Painter was named to the second team as a shortstop after leading the Blues in six different offensive categories this year. The junior played in 19 games and paced PM in hits (29), doubles (11), triples (3), home runs (2), RBIs (27) and slugging percentage (.813). Painter finished the year with a .453 batting average and scored 23 runs.
Fulwider missed a number of games because of injury this year, but she still managed to bat .448 and landed on the all-region second team as a designated player. A sophomore, Fulwider finished with 13 RBIs to go along with her .528 on-base percentage and 1.011 OPS.
Watts was named to the second team as a pitcher. She struck out 67 batters and finished her freshman season with a .407 batting average, which included 24 hits and 14 RBIs. Watts led the team in runs scored with 26, walks with 19 and stolen bases with 22.
Under the direction of 12th-year head coach Troy Clark, the Fighting Blues went 9-12 this season, making a run to the Pioneer District championship game, where they lost at Eastern Montgomery, before concluding the season with a home setback against George Wythe in the Region 1C quarterfinals.
