The Parry McCluer High School football team had a strong showing in its first 7-on-7 football tournament of the offseason last Wednesday at PM’s Bobby Williams Field in Buena Vista. They played host to Alleghany, Nelson County and Staunton and only gave up one touchdown, against Staunton. “We did really well against all the teams,” said Jeremiah Brockenbrough, who will start his fourth year as PM’s head coach this fall. “It was a good outing by us.” Among the scenes were, CLOCKWISE FROM TOP LEFT, Ashton Lotts catching the ball while Abram Johnson (4) watches; a Nelson County player running with the ball while Blues (from left) Jamier Jordan, Parker Snider, Kyle Smals and Isaiah Gilbert play defense; Smals (right) and a Nelson County player leaping for the ball; Brody Coleman running with the ball; and PM assistant coach John Snider holding the ball while Brockenbrough watches. Today, Wednesday, the Blues are scheduled to play a 7-on-7 tournament at Nelson County. The Blues are scheduled to play host for a home jamboree on Wednesday, July 22. On both nights, action is slated to start at 5 p.m. (Stephanie Mikels Blevins photos)
