Unity4Kids, Inc., a Lexington-based nonprofit serving children and families, is seeking new members to join its board of directors.
Founded in October 2024, Unity4Kids has quickly grown into a vital community resource, providing approximately 500 meals per month through its meal delivery program, along with a food pantry, clothes closet, emergency financial aid, holiday outreach, back-to-school support, and the UnityReads literacy initiative. The organization’s mission is rooted in meeting families where they are — with no eligibility barriers and a focus on relational, faith-rooted community care.
“As Unity4Kids continues to grow, we need passionate, committed people at the table helping shape where we go next,” said Tammy Reid, founder and executive director. “Board members bring their time, talents, and perspective — and in return, they get to see firsthand the difference this work makes for local children and families.”
Board members help guide the organization’s strategic direction, support fundraising efforts, strengthen community partnerships, and ensure responsible stewardship of resources. The board typically meets monthly, and members are encouraged to participate in events such as the upcoming Family Reading and Literacy Play Date in June and the annual cornhole tournament fundraiser in August.
Unity4Kids welcomes candidates from all backgrounds and professions. Experience in areas such as finance, law, education, health care, marketing, or nonprofit management is helpful but not required. “The most important qualification is a heart for serving local children and families,” said Reid.
Those interested in learning more or applying are encouraged to contact Reid at [email protected] or visit www.unity4kids.org.
