There will be a special Town Council meeting on June 23 to adopt the new budget for 2026-27.
The farmers (flea) markets are under new management this year, yet still town operated. There has been some confusion on the times and places for the new flea and farmers market. This is the update, which was cleared up at last week’s Council meeting. The market along Blueridge Road (at the picnic tables) will be held monthly on the second Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The farmers market will be held each Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the pavilion at 10th and Kanawha streets. Vendors with produce, arts and handmade crafts, baked goods, etc. may set up under the pavilion, while those with yard sale items can set up on the outer edges of the lot. There is no fee to set up, and no reserved spots. You need to bring your own tables for both. There is supposed to be a gentleman at the pavilion this Friday with some fresh produce.
The RARO adult co-ed softball league is still alive and well! They started playing in Glasgow with three games each on Monday and Wednesday. However, it was discovered that the lights on the field were not working properly and the later games had to be postponed. Some games were relocated to Buena Vista, while some are still being played in Glasgow. I was informed by one of the team’s coaches that the league may be moved to Brewbaker Field in Lexington so all three games can be played in one place. Games are scheduled to be played in Glasgow tonight, June 17.
