A grand opening for Buena Vista’s new visitor center will be held this Monday, June 15, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., at the Virginia Innovation Accelerator in the former Mundet-Hermetite factory building, 245 W. 21st St.
The visitor center, operated by Rockbridge Regional Tourism, is being relocated from 595 E. 29th St. The building where it had been located was having structural issues and it was determined that it would be prohibitively expensive to repair. There was available space in the VIA so that is now the home of the visitor center.
The visitor center’s hours of operation are Wednesdays through Sundays, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Maps, local recommendations for sites to visit and trails to access and restrooms are available. It’s also located right next to the Junction 245 Retail Marketplace and Taproom.
