Arnolds Valley

Karyn Gardner, (540) 228-2176, (540) 655-3646 [email protected]

Happy Flag Day to everyone this Sunday. Thank you to all veterans and active duty personnel for your service and dedication to our country!

Sending birthday wishes to my father-in-law, Dr. Richard Gardner, in Buena Vista and to his twin sister, Rosanne Christiansen, in South Jordan, Utah. Happy birthday also to Ezra Wilson, Cami Blankenship, Winter Harlow, Ginger Rodgers and Thomas Demeter.

My family recently suffered a major loss. My husband’s grandfather, Ronald Blair, passed away in Clearfield, Utah, on May 25. That day was also his and his wife’s Jane Roubinet Blair’s 59th wedding anniversary. Grandpa Blair will be greatly missed. He was 83 years old.

At Faith Baptist Church, there will be a clothes closet and work day on June 15 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and on June 20 as well from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. A men’s prayer breakfast will be held on June 17 at 8 a.m. Faith Baptist’s vacation Bible school is coming up next month, July 2731. Happy birthday to Faith Baptist members Logan Braford, Chastity Bowman and Priscilla Thompson. Happy anniversary to Faith Baptist members Harold and Susie Knick and Robert and Laurel Gibson.

At St. John’s Episcopal Church, this past Sunday’s Liturgy of the Word service was led by the Rev. Deacon Linda Ricker. Many thanks to her and to church musicians Bert Buford, Courtney VanOsten and Josh Gardner. BLynn Williams will lead a morning prayer service this Sunday, June 14. Happy birthday to St. John’s members Terry Palmer, Carrie Lehman and Dave VanOsten.

The 2026 hikers dinners are still going on at St. John’s Episcopal Church. So far this season the church has hosted more than 120 hikers trekking the Appalachian Trail. The dinners will continue through June on Monday evenings at 6. All are welcome to attend the dinners. If you’d like to volunteer to assist with the dinners, contact either Brandall Branch or Dave VanOsten.

Music nonprofit UnTwelve and local arts nonprofit Mid-Mountain will host a free, donate what you can, concert of microtonal music at Mid-Mountain Retreat (338 Arnolds Valley Road) on June 13 from 7 to 9 p.m. This is the second consecutive year members of UnTwelve will gather at MidMountain Retreat to share microtonal music, or harmonies and melodies outside the traditional 12-note tunings common in western music.
