Glasgow’s budget for fiscal year 2026-27 has been prepared and there will be a public hearing on it on June 9, with adoption scheduled for June 23.
There is no proposed tax increase but water and sewer fees will increase.
The proposed budget was among the items discussed at the May 12 Town Council meeting.
The company hired to make repairs and updates to the wastewater plant has nearly completed its work and Michael Ramsey has been hired as operator of the plant, it was reported.
Also, the town plans to advertise for a part-time public works person to work three and a half days (28 hours) on weekends. That person will be responsible for performing certain checks at the wastewater plant.
The flea market continues to grow each Saturday morning. The nice picnic tables were built by Virginia Military Institute cadets.
The Glasgow/Natural Bridge food pantry is celebrating 30 years of service to the community. Mike Finchum, interim town manager, suggested that Council present them with a written proclamation in honor of this accomplishment.
