Parry McCluer High School’s class of 2026 is sending two standout seniors into the world with records that speak for themselves.
Vincent Wilson, this year’s valedictorian, graduates with a 4.2170 GPA, the highest in his class. Wilson has been enrolled in the Governor’s School and completed several Mountain Gateway Dual Enrollment courses, earning 60 college credit hours along the way. He’ll also leave PMHS with an associate’s degree in science and social science from MGCC, having surpassed the school’s advanced diploma requirement of 26 credit hours with 30 of his own.
Outside the classroom, Wilson has been a four-year member of Students in Rockbridge Promoting Healthy Alternatives (SiRPHA), a two-year member of the National Honor Society, and has served on the Mountain Gateway Conduct Committee. He’s also participated in Blues Presents programming and competed in indoor and outdoor track.
Wilson has already been accepted to the University of Virginia, where he plans to double major in biomedical and chemical engineering before pursuing medical school and a career as an anesthesiologist. In his free time, he plays guitar and live streams.
Josh Cooper, the class of 2026 salutatorian, carries a 4.1796 GPA and has likewise made the most of PMHS’s dual enrollment opportunities, banking 37 college credit hours and earning enough high school credits to graduate with an advanced diploma.
Cooper has been a varsity cross country and track athlete for all four years of high school, contributing to three cross country state championships. His team finished his final season ranked best in the state across all divisions, including private schools. He has also personally won three state titles in the 4x800 relay, both indoors and outdoors.
After graduation, Cooper will serve a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Brazil Campinas
