Bike Rodeo, Giveaway Part Of Outdoors Fest

Brain Injury Connections of the Shenandoah Valley is partnering with Lexington Bike Repair to deliver a hands-on experience for young riders during the Rockbridge Outdoors Fest at Glen Maury Park on June 13.

The free bike helmet giveaway and bike rodeo will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in conjunction with the festival.

Lexington Bike Repair staff will teach children how to perform a safety check on their own bike and offer expert tips on technique as kids navigate a fun obstacle course and slow race. Children will also be invited to customize their new helmets with stickers — fostering a sense of ownership and pride that encourages consistent helmet use.

“A helmet is one of the simplest, most effective tools we have to protect a child’s brain — and yet so many kids ride without one. We are so grateful for the generous support of Rockbridge United Way and Lexington Walmart, whose contributions make it possible to put that protection directly into the hands of families who need it most,” said Anne Fitzgerald, executive director of Brain Injury Connections of the Shenandoah Valley.
