Eleven athletes from the Rockbridge County High School softball, baseball and boys and girls soccer teams received alldistrict honors last Wednesday. Four softball players, one baseball player, four boys soccer players and two girls soccer players were named all-district.
From the softball team, which went 10-8 during the regular season and 7-9 in the Shenandoah District under the direction of seventh-year head coach Keston Pelter, junior designated hitter and designated player Gracie Pelter was named to the all-district first team.
Three softball players – senior pitcher Sadie Moore, senior left fielder Page Wright and sophomore catcher Brooke Hostetter – were selected to the all-district second team. In the second-to-last game of the regular season, Moore broke the single-season program record for strikeouts. The previous mark was 161 strikeouts, and she finished the regular season with 167. For her career, she had 414 strikeouts, also a program record.
One RC baseball player, junior designated hitter Austyn Gannutz, was named to the alldistrict first team. Guiding the Wildcats, who went 4-16 overall and 2-14 in the district, is seventh-year head coach Travis Roadcap.
From the RC boys soccer team, which went 12-5-0 overall and 12-4-0 in the district during the regular season for its highest win total in a decade, four Wildcats were named all-district. Junior forward Cooper Fox, who scored 20 goals during the regular season, was selected to the all-district second team. Wildcats named to the all-district second team, all juniors, were defender Brennan Roeder and forwards Charlie Cosgriff and Parker Fountain. The Wildcats are under the director of second-year head coach Jeffrey Tomlin.
The RC girls soccer team had two alldistrict selections. Senior forward Lucy Boller-Pinkham, who finished her career with 66 goals, was named to the all-district first team. Senior midfielder Elsa Kerin-Rice was selected to the all-district second team. Under the direction of first-year head coach Carrie Dietz, the Wildcats went 5-12-0 overall and 4-12-0 in the district.
