How to navigate successfully through the rough waters of breastfeeding will be the focus of discussion at the next La Leche League meeting on Tuesday, June 9, in the library of Grace Episcopal Church at 10:30 a.m.
These meetings provide a forum to ask questions and share with other moms the many concerns that arise in the early days of breastfeeding ‒ understanding feeding cues from the baby, how to know baby is getting enough milk, ensuring adequate milk supply, strategies to prevent sore nipples, how to get much needed rest when baby seems to be nursing round the clock, best positions for nursing and creating a positive dialogue with all family members. These and many other topics will be shared while the meeting is led by a LLL leader, who has breastfed her own children, has gone through advanced training and can provide up-to-date medical knowledge.
Pregnant, nursing moms, partners and all babies and children are welcome at meetings, where a lending library is available with books devoted to raising healthy, loving children and snacks will be provided. Home visits can also be arranged for moms needing extra care.
