The flower bed at the northern entrance to Lexington was decorated with flowers representing the school colors of W&L and VMI earlier this month in honor of both schools’ graduations. The flowers are artificial and will be reused every year. Similar flowers were planted in the flowerbeds in the downtown triangle where Main and Jefferson streets diverge. Lexington Public Works Director Patrick Madigan said Ruth Huffman of Green Valley Landscapes was hired to plant the flowers, and that having flowers in the school colors was the Public Works Department’s idea.
