An Alabama man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 81 near Fairfield Monday morning.
According to the Virginia State Police, a 2013 Lexus RX-450 was traveling south on Interstate 81 when the vehicle lost control, ran off the right side of the roadway and struck the trees. The crash occurred at 6:50 a.m. at the 198.6 mile marker.
A passenger in the car, identified as 82-year-old Foster Lee Ware II, of Montgomery, Ala., died at the scene. He was not wearing his seatbelt.
The crash remains under investigation.
