Boller-Pinkham Scores All Three Goals For Wildcats
The Rockbridge County High School girls soccer team suffered a pair of Shenandoah District losses last week, falling 6-2 at Staunton last Tuesday before coming up short 2-1 at home against Waynesboro on Friday.
With the setback, the Wildcats fell to 2-8-0, both overall and in the district. Against Waynesboro (111-0 overall, 11-0-0 district), the Wildcats showed improvement from their 3-0 loss to the Lady Giants on March 31 in Waynesboro.
In the rematch, Waynesboro scored first to take a 1-0 lead. The Wildcats then tied the game at 1-1 when Lucy Boller-Pinkham scored on an assist from Anna Feldman. The Lady Giants later scored to break the tie and kept the Wildcats from scoring again.
In goal, RC junior Caden Marshall made 10 saves.
Staunton 6, RC 2
At Staunton (6-4-1, 6-3-1), the Wildcats got two goals from Boller-Pinkham, both assisted by Feldman, but the Storm’s offense was too much to handle.
“They’re well coached, and they attack quickly,” said RC head coach Carrie Dietz.
Marshall made 10 saves once again for the Wildcats. With the win, the Storm completed a sweep of the regular-season series with RC. When the teams met on March 26 in Lexington, the Staunton won 3-2.
The Wildcats were scheduled to play at Stuarts Draft last night and will continue district action at Buffalo Gap on Thursday, with the 7:30 p.m. varsity girls’ game following the 6 p.m. varsity boys’ game. RC will have a nondistrict doubleheader at Rocktown on Monday, with the boys’ game scheduled for 5:30 p.m., followed by the girls’ game at 7 p.m. The Wildcats will return to district action on Tuesday at Wilson Memorial, starting with the junior varsity game at 5:30 p.m., with the varsity game scheduled to follow at 7.
