Garden Clubs Ready 25th Annual Event
Lexington’s longest-running community plant sale is set for Saturday, May 9, at Hopkins Green downtown.
Now in its 25th year, the sale runs from 9 a.m. to noon, rain or shine.
According to Maureen Becker, a local Master Gardener and horticulture judge, customers will find hundreds of healthy and unique plants, flowers, shrubs, herbs, some trees, fresh flower arrangements, and an assortment of garden décor — all in time for Mother’s Day on May 10.
“We are proud to continue this wonderful tradition because the community benefits in many ways such as furnishing the colorful hanging baskets on Main Street, offering scholarships for Nature Camp, and supporting other local charities,” said Becker.
The sale is organized by the Rockbridge County Council of Garden Clubs, which include Lexington, Blue Ridge, Glasgow, Natural Bridge, and Green Hills.
“In addition to finding wellpriced, locally grown plants, this is an excellent opportunity for shoppers to purchase a Mother’s Day gift with a local touch,” she added.
Each club will have experts available to answer questions about their products.
Payment is by cash or check. Each club will have its own cashier.
Shoppers are encouraged to bring their own sturdy bags and boxes to ensure secure transport to their vehicles.
