A handful of people celebrated Arbor Day by planting trees on a parcel of city-owned land in the Diamond Street-Maury Street area of Lexington on Friday.ABOVE, Lexington Mayor Frank Friedman (left) was among the participants and was joined by Braidon Snyder, Mitchell Kim, and Lexington City Arborist Ray Ulrich in filling in dirt around one of the trees planted. AT LEFT, Ulrich pours mulch around one of the newly planted trees to help it grow. The trees that were planted were of a variety of native species, including shagbark hickory, red maple, cigar tree and black gum. (Joseph Haney photos)
