Rockbridge Baths Would Retain Precinct
A revised plan to consolidate some voting precincts and change certain polling locations was advanced Monday by the Rockbridge County Board of Supervisors. A 15-day public comment period is being held from April 15 to 30, with the supervisors scheduled to vote May 11 on the revised plan.
The only change to the plan recommended earlier by the Rockbridge County Electoral Board was to eliminate a proposal to combine the Rockbridge Baths and Rockbridge precincts into one precinct at the Fairfield Volunteer Rescue Squad building. Otherwise, the Electoral Board’s recommendations remain intact.
The following changes are to be considered by the supervisors on May 11: Incorporate the Vesuvius precinct into the Fairfield precinct in the South River Magisterial District; incorporate the Ben Salem precinct into the Airport precinct in the Buffalo Magisterial District; incorporate the Falling Spring precinct into the Natural Bridge Station precinct in the Natural Bridge Magisterial District; relocate the polling place for the Meadowview precinct in the Walkers Creek Magisterial District from Faith Mountain Baptist Church to Rockbridge County High School; relocate the polling place for the Fairfield precinct in the South River Magisterial District from the South River Fire Department to the Fairfield Elementary School; relocate the polling place for the Mountain View precinct in the South River Magisterial District from Neriah Baptist Church to Mountain View Elementary School; relocate the polling place for the Airport precinct in the Buffalo Magisterial District from the Lexington Baptist Church to Maury River Middle School; relocate the Natural Bridge Station polling place in the Natural Bridge Magisterial District from the Natural Bridge Christian Fellowship Hall to Natural Bridge Elementary School; and relocate the polling place for the Vo-Tech precinct in the Kerrs Creek Magisterial District from the Life Chapel Church to Rockbridge County High School.
