Boller-Pinkham Scores Six Goals, Feldman Five For RC Girls
Led by a career-high six goals by Lucy Boller-Pinkham, the Rockbridge County High School girls soccer team earned its first win of the season, cruising to a 12-0 victory over Shenandoah District rival Buffalo Gap on Monday of last week.
The Wildcats improved to 1-4-0 overall, while the Bison, fielding a team for only the second year, ended the week at 0-6-0 overall and 0-5-0 in the district.
Boller-Pinkham, a junior midfielder who was an all-district first-team and all-district second-team selection last year, also had one assist.
RC sophomore forward Anna Feldman had a big game as well, scoring five goals and dishing out one assist. Sophomore defender Abigail Guashpa scored one goal, while sophomore midfielder Allison Licona-Asto had one assist. Most of the Wildcats’ goals were unassisted, as RC players took the ball down the field on their own often to score. Due to the eight-goal mercy rule, the game ended with 20 minutes left in regulation.
Not challenged much, RC junior goalkeeper Caden Marshall made two saves.
Since it was spring break, Monday’s action was the Wildcats’ only game last week, and they took some of the week off. “It was a good team win, and they all deserve a break,” said RC head coach Carrie Dietz.
The Wildcats were scheduled to play at Riverheads last night and will continue district action at home against Fort Defiance on Thursday, starting with junior varsity action at 5:30 p.m., with the varsity game scheduled to follow at 7.
