RC Netmen Shut Out Draft

In its only match of the week, the Rockbridge County High School boys tennis team cruised to a 9-0 win over Shenandoah District rival Stuarts Draft on Monday of last week in Lexington.

With the victory, the Wildcats snapped a three-match losing streak and improved to 3-3, both overall and in the dis- trict. The closest match of the day was at No. 5 singles, where RC’s Rachit Yakkanti earned an 8-6 win over Draft’s Colin Tubbs.

Back from spring break, the Wildcats are scheduled to continue district action at Staunton on Thursday, concluding a match that was tied at 4-4 before it was stopped due to darkness on March 20 in Lexington and then playing Staunton again. On Monday, the Wildcats will play host to district rival Riverheads. On both days, action is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m.
