‘Revolutionary Women’ Round Table Planned

The Rockbridge Historical Society will partner with historians from Virginia Military Institute, Washington and Lee University and the University of Virginia for a series of short biographical presentations and round table conversation regarding “Revolutionary Women of Rockbridge and Virginia” on Wednesday, April 29, from 8 to 9:15 p.m. at Gillis Theater at VMI.

Newly added, a free reception with drinks and hors d’ouerves will precede the public program, starting at 7 p.m. Attendees are asked to RSVP for the reception by April 20 at http:// tinyrul.com/Reception-RSVP-Rev-Women.

Panelists will address significant individuals and influential groups whose advocacy and resilience “moved the needle” of local and national history, including a long and continuing series of legal and political changes fronted by VMI’s curricular and community programs centered on U.S. constitutional history.

RHS’ related community book discussion of Cokie Roberts’ “Founding Mothers: The Women Who Raised America” will set the stage a week earlier on April 22 at 6 p.m. at the Rockbridge Regional Library.

The April 14 screening of the women's suffrage themed “Iron Jawed Angels” had to be postponed but will be re-scheduled later this spring to continue RHS’ “Revolutionary Films” series.

For updates, and other related women’s history and local history programming through the next two months, follow RHS Instagram and Facebook pages, and direct any questions RHS Executive Director Eric Wilson at Director@ RockbridgeHistory.org.
