RC Boys Soccer Takes Down Gladiators, 8-1

With a strong and athletic offense, the Rockbridge County High School boys soccer team earned an 8-1 home win over Shenandoah District rival Riverheads on Tuesday night in Lexington.

Picking up their third consecuctive victory, the Wildcats improved to 4-2-0, while the Gladiators fell to 1-5-0, both overall and in the district.

RC led 5-0 at halftime and scored three more goals in the second half. 

Cooper Fox led the Wildcats with three goals and had an assist, while Jonathan Soriano Caceres scored two goals and dished out one assist. Contributing one goal each were Dante Kelly, Jonathan Roy and Carlos Reynolds, who scored on a penalty kick. Charlie Cosgriff RC with two assists. 

The Gladiators scored their only goal on a penalty kick by Jonah Williams to cut RC’s lead to 6-1 about six-and-a-half minutes into the second half, but the Wildcats scored two more goals to finish the game. 

In goal for the Wildcats, Patrick De Marcellus made two saves, and Jacob Wallace had one save.

The Wildcats will continue district action at Fort Defiance on Thursday, starting with the junior varsity game at 5:30 p.m., with the varsity game scheduled to follow at 7.
