March 30, 2026 Editor, The News-Gazette: Thank you to the organizers of last Saturday’s No Kings community gathering.
As a senior citizen, I appreciated the chairs, bottled water and attention to safety which made the event especially welcoming for older participants.
Many seniors have been activists since the civil rights and women’s movements in the 1960s and remain committed to participation in civic affairs. This was demonstrated by the large number of older people attending the Saturday march. We vote in large numbers, contribute time and money to political and charitable organizations, and want to be included.
We appreciate the thoughtfulness of community organizers who make an effort to provide for our needs. Creating a compassionate and just society requires citizens of all ages working together. We need each other! COLQUITT MEACHAM Rockbridge County
