As part of its 50th anniversary year of conservation in Rockbridge County, Rockbridge Conservation will host “Bee Part of a Greener Rockbridge,” a free, familyfriendly Earth Day celebration on Saturday, April 25, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Hopkins Green in Lexington.
Attendees can explore interactive displays and meet representatives from partner organizations including Boxerwood, Friends of the Chessie Trail, Friends of Brushy Hills, the Maury River Alliance, the Rockbridge Bird Club, and more. There will also be Earth Day-themed yoga and a home composting display.
“This event reflects both where we’ve been and where we’re going,” said Jamie Goodin, Rockbridge Conservation director. “For 50 years, Rockbridge Conservation has worked to protect the natural resources that define this place—and this Earth Day is about inviting the community to be part of what comes next.”
Rockbridge Conservation will host a central information table along with committee-led activities, while partner organizations will offer their own exhibits on topics such as trails, habitat conservation, birding, and sustainable practices.
Designed for all ages, the event invites residents to: ● Learn about local conservation efforts; ● Connect with community organizations; ● Participate in hands-on environmental activities; ● Discover practical ways to get involved.
“Being part of a greener Rockbridge doesn’t require expertise,” Goodin added. “It starts with small, local actions — and a shared commitment to the place we call home.”
The event is free and open to the public. Setup for participating organizations will begin at noon.
