March 25, 2026 Editor, The News-Gazette: How could anyone who voted for Gov. Abigail Spanberger be proud and/or pleased now with her leadership and legislative direction since assuming office? Her major political platform was “affordability,” Yet raising and creating 50 new taxes during her first term where her Democrat colleagues control the three branches of government in Virginia is a complete demonstration that she totally lied to all of us.
I hope that all Virginians, Democrats, Republicans and Independents will unite and say that this is not right and reverse this reckless direction that our beloved commonwealth is headed.
The first and most important way to do this is to vote no to the constitutional amendment April 21 (with early voting open now). If this amendment is passed the continued horrible lie and destructive trend will provide for and promote a system where our votes will not be heard. MURPHY TUOMEY WILSON Lexington
