RC Girls Lax Routs Christiansburg

Monday, March 30 -- The Rockbridge County High School girls lacrosse team used a balanced attack to power past Christiansburg for a 24-0 win in Lexington.

Seventeen different players scored for the Wildcats (3-1), including 10 'Cats with at least two points in the game. Sofia Gaydos led the way with five points on three goals and two assists, followed by two goals and two assists apiece from Anna Nye and Sarah Edgar.

Adrianna Grue and Emma McKnight each posted two goals and one helper for RC, while Lola Mulitalo and Laura Ingram both finished with one goal and two assists. Lily Gist scored a pair of goals, and Maria Calameris and Lexi Samante rounded out the multi-point performances with one goal and one assist apiece.

Nye also recorded 10 draw controls for the Wildcats, who held a 21-5 advantage on the draw circle. Ingram collected four draws, and Nadia Gaydos posted three.

Maddie Strausbaugh registered five saves in goal for the Blue Demons (0-1), and Ari Akers tallied three draw controls.

RC will play host to Albemarle on Wednesday evening, with opening draw slated for approximately 7 p.m.
