A water main break on at the intersection of Washington and Jefferson streets just before noon on Tuesday sent water flying high above the buildings and caused portions of West Washington and Jefferson streets to be closed for part of the day while crews worked to address the issue. Crews from the Lexington Department of Public Works were able to get the break fixedTuesday afternoon, reopening most of the closed streets, though the 100 block of West Washington Street remained closed to traffic at press time. The News-Gazette was unable to learn the cause of the break before press time. (photos by Scotty Dransfield, Gay Lea Goodbar and Joseph Haney)
