Goshen
Grant Received For Emergency Shelter Generators
The town of Goshen has been awarded a $122,000 grant from the Virginia Department of Energy to purchase two large portable solar generators, one for town hall and one for the Goshen Volunteer Fire Department building.
Once the generators are installed, the town will designate both buildings as emergency shelters, with the generators being available to keep essential services for both buildings running through an extended power outage.
At town hall, the generator will support the refrigerators and freezers to keep the town’s food pantry operational, and at the firehouse it will be use to keep hot water on for the showers and the kitchen functional for meal preparation.
