Clark Finalist For SAARA Peer Of The Year Award

Joshua Clark, substance use director for Rockbridge Recovery, has been named a top 10 finalist for the national SAARA Peer of the Year Award, an honor recognizing individuals who demonstrate outstanding leadership and commitment in the field of addiction recovery as peer support specialists.

Clark’s work focuses on helping individuals rebuild their lives after substance use and involvement with the justice system. Through his leadership, Rockbridge Recovery has expanded critical support services, including recovery programs for incarcerated individuals and mentorship opportunities for youth facing substance use challenges, said a spokesperson.

“Recovery is about more than sobriety — it’s about rebuilding purpose, connection, and hope,” Clark said. “This recognition reflects the strength of our entire community and the people we serve.”

Clark has been especially recognized for his efforts in creating pathways from incarceration to recovery, helping individuals transition successfully back into society. His programs emphasize accountability, mentorship, and long-term support, which have made a measurable impact in the region.

In addition to working with adults, Clark has prioritized early intervention by mentoring young people who are at risk of substance use, offering guidance and support during critical stages of their lives.

Community members describe Clark as a passionate advocate and hands-on leader who brings both personal experience and professional dedication to his role.

“Joshua doesn’t just talk about recovery — he lives it and inspires others to believe in it,” said Paula Hubbard, residence services director at Rockbridge Recovery. “This nomination is well deserved.”

Voting is now open for the SAARA (Substance Abuse and Addiction Recovery Alliance) Peer of the Year Award, and supporters are encouraged to cast their votes to help bring the honor home. Voting can be completed online at saara. org/2026luncheon.

Clark hopes the recognition will bring greater awareness to the importance of recovery services and the need for continued community support.

“Together, we can make a lasting difference,” he said.

The winner will be announced at the upcoming SAARA luncheon later this year.
