Whiplash Weather

Whiplash Weather

A radio announcer in Nashville this week referred to the weather in her state as “whiplash” in nature, and that has certainly been the case in Rockbridge as well. After reaching the 80-degree mark early last week, rain turned to snow last Thursday morning producing scenes such as this along U.S. 11 south of Lexington where willow trees were already coming out. Temperatures rebounded by the weekend, and were warm Monday when the area came under the threat of severe storms and even tornadoes. Except for some downed trees, however, the area escaped unscathed. Then the temperatures went winter-like Tuesday morning, but they are going back up this week. (Mary Woodson photo)
