The DeLaney Center at Washington and Lee University will present the next event in its DeLaney Dialogues series this Monday, March 23.
The lunchtime curated exchange, featuring DeLaney Center Postbaccalaureate Fellow Caitlyn Thompkins, will take place from noon to 1 p.m. at the Watson Galleries.
As a preamble to this program, area residents are invited to a Reading Club Breakfast, which will take place in The Gin Hotel’s first floor banquet room that morning from 8 to 9.
This will enable participants to view and discuss
clips from Thompkins’ videotaped interviews before they hear her presentation.
At the luncheon event, Thompkins will share observations entitled “The Legacy of Segregated Medicine: An Oral History of Race and Healthcare in Rockbridge County, VA.”
Her remarks will describe her project which features Black residents of Rockbridge County discussing their experiences with the local health care system before and after medical desegregation. Lunch will be provided.
