Thank you to everyone who helped move pews and other things back into the sanctuary at New Monmouth Presbyterian Church. Lending a hand were Clementine and Marigold Clark, Davis and John Welsh, Sarah and John Burleson, Joe Fix, Charlie Ivins, Gary Swink, Tim Hodges, Casey and Rachel Clark and Tim Welsh. A special thanks to Janeen Welsh for bringing the donuts. Thank you to Joann for lay-leading for Sunday’s worship service, and thanks to the Ukeladies for leading the praise song “Thy Word.” The choir provided the anthem, “Jesus Messiah.”
Ladies Circle meets tomorrow, Thursday, at 7 p.m. at Joann Blouin’s house.
There is a confirmation class for grades seven and up and those looking to explore and deepen their faith on select Sundays after church. Please let Casey know as soon as possible if your youth will be participating.
Bible study is Mondays at 1 p.m. at the Clark house. We are studying Ephesians.
March 28 at 9 a.m. there is a cleanup day at church at the bottom of the hill to prepare for a walking path. Wear gloves, long pants and closed toed shoes.
New Monmouth will host a sunrise service on Easter morning at 7 on Hotinger Hill (Fredericksburg Road). A breakfast will follow at New Monmouth in the fellowship hall.
The Kerrs Creek Ruritan Club met at the Rockbridge County Innovation Center on Feb. 17. Corey Wallace served a delicious meal and spoke about the culinary program. Robyn Sherman gave us a tour of the Innovation Center. There are so many opportunities for the students with hands on experience in a wide range of areas of work including manufacturing systems, engineering and architecture technology, aerospace, health and medical science, automotive and auto body technology, business and information, cybersecurity, sports marketing, small animal care, agriculture and building trades for grades nine through 12. There are opportunities for internships for grade 12 which gives the student real world experiences. The Innovation Center is an amazing place.
The club will pick up trash in the Kerrs Creek area on Saturday, March 21. Meet at the Kerrs Creek Recycling Center at 8:30 a.m.
The club will meet on March 17 at 6:30 at Bethany Lutheran Church.
