On Thursday, March 12, the Effinger Mobile Food Pantry will be at the Effinger Volunteer Fire Department from 2 to 3 p.m. with a variety of free groceries available for pick up. Available items will include fresh produce, frozen meat and nonperishable items. There are no income restrictions for this service.

An all-you-can-eat spaghetti supper hosted by the Collierstown United Methodist Church will be held Saturday, March 14, from 5 to 7 p.m. The meal will include spaghetti, tossed salad, bread, dessert and assorted beverages. Meals will be offered as a dine-in or take-out eating experience. The cost of the meal is by donation.

The Collierstown Presbyterian Church’s Cemetery Committee asks families and friends of loved ones buried in the CPC Cemetery to remove artificial flower arrangements, decorations and other items from grave sites by March 15 to facilitate mowing of the cemetery grounds. Items remaining on the graves or ground surrounding the tombstones and not secured to the tombstones will be removed by cemetery committee personnel after March 15.

Rockbridge CAN (Rockbridge Connect and Nourish) will provide a free community dinner at the Palmer Community Center located at 1230 Blue Grass Trail, Lexington, on Wednesday, March 18, from 6 to 7 p.m. The meal will be catered by the Lexington Catering Company and served dine-in style. Those needing transportation may call (540) 463-3346 to arrange a free ride to and from the meal.

The Collierstown United Methodist Church will host a joint worship service with the Mt. Horeb United Methodist congregation on Sunday, March 22, at 10:30 a.m. Ricky Hall, a Christian, country and Southern Gospel recording artist, will bring the morning message and provide special music. A free-will offering will be taken.

The Collierstown United Methodist Women in Faith will be making homemade peanut butter and coconut cream Easter eggs for sale. The cost of a 5-ounce egg is $6. Orders can be placed after March 18 by calling the church at (540) 463-7717 or (540) 463-3408 or by contacting one of the church’s women.

The Effinger Community Easter Egg Hunt will be held Saturday, April 4, at the pavilion on the grounds of the Collierstown Baptist Church from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. The Effinger Ruritan Club has invited the Easter Bunny to be on hand to meet and be photographed with the children in attendance.

As the celebration of Easter approaches, information will be shared in this column on other activities and worship services that have been planned.
