PM Boys Place Second At State Indoor Track And Field Meet

The Parry McCluer High School boys indoor track and field team placed second at the Class 1 state meet, which was held on Wednesday and Thursday at Liberty University. 

The Fighting Blues scored 55 points, only trailing Auburn's 132, while Eastern Montgomery (41) placed third of 23 scoring teams. 

Winning state titles for the PM boys were junior Kebryl Chandler (1600 and 3200-meter runs) and the 4 X 800-meter relay team. Chandler broke his own school record in the 1600-meter run, finishing in 4:16.77. He won the 3200-meter run in 9:30.13. In the 4 X 800-meter relay, Chandler teamed up with sophomore Caleb Cooper and seniors Josh Cooper and Logan Wheelock to finish in 8:17.65, claiming the title by about 19 seconds over Eastern Montgomery (8:36.54).

Senior Griffin Harlow represented the Blues' throwers, placing third in the shot put with a toss of 51 feet, 7 inches.
