Two Rockbridge County High School basketball players, senior forward Lola Mulitalo for the girls and junior guard Bradi Ziegler for the boys, received all-district honors from the Shenandoah District last week.
Mulitalo led the RC girls in scoring and rebounding this season, averaging 15.6 points per game and 14.5 rebounds. Guided by third-year head coach Darrell Plogger, the Wildcats went 9-16 overall this season and advanced to the Region 3C tournament, making back-to-back regional tournament appearances for the first time in program history.
In the regional quarterfinals, the 11th-seeded Wildcats concluded their season with a 65-30 road loss to sixth-seeded East Rockingham. In their first year in the Shenandoah District, after seven years in the Valley District, the Wildcats went 7-9.
Ziegler led the RC boys in scoring, averaging 17 points per game, and shot 33 percent from three-point range. He scored a career-high 31 points in the Wildcats’ 57-45 home win over district rival Buffalo Gap on Dec. 19, knocking down seven 3-pointers. Under the direction of fifth-year head coach Rob Winfield, the Wildcats went 4-19 overall and 2-14 in the Shenandoah District.
