Concluding an outstanding high school career, Rockbridge County High School senior Lillian Ballard was named to the Virginia High School League Class 3 all-state competition cheer second team last month.
Ballard, who was previously selected to the all-district and all-region first teams, helped the Wildcats place second of seven teams at the Shenandoah District competition in mid-October in Lexington. With the leadership of Ballard and other experienced cheerleaders, the Wildcats went on to finish sixth out of 10 teams at the Region 3C tournament at Wilson Memorial High School in Lynchburg in late October.
As a junior, Ballard helped the Wildcats win their first-ever Region 3C title, and they advanced to the Class 3 state competition for the first time since 1999, placing eighth.
Guiding the Wildcats are head coach Shannon Bryan and assistant coach Sarah Parnell.
