William Kerr was tapped Thursday to fill a vacancy on Buena Vista City Council. He was selected by Council from five candidates who had applied for the interim position.
Kerr, a lifelong resident of Buena Vista, is a 1977 graduate of Parry McCluer High School. He has been actively involved in the PMHS athletic boosters club and has served on the Paxton House Historical Society board of directors. He formerly owned a downtown business, Carpet Outlet, and is currently employed by Bolling, Grose and Lotts Funeral Home.
The vacancy he is filling was created when Steve Webb recently resigned with two years remaining on his term. Kerr will serve on Council until a special election is held in November to elect a person to serve the remaining year of the term..
The other four candidates who applied for the Council seat were Krista Carter, Jacob Zimmerman, Frank Huffman and Stanley Coffey.
