Family Foundation Executive Director Bruce Schlesman will be guest speaker at the Rockbridge Area Republican Committee mass meeting to be held 10 a.m. March 7 at the Rockbridge County High School.
He will be speaking on legislation in the state legislature, including the Reproductive Freedom amendment that will provide a constitutional right to abortion up to the moment of birth.
He will also discuss the constitutional marriage amendment that will remove all protections for churches, ministers or other officials who have the authority to perform marriage ceremonies to abstain from performing same-sex marriages.
Congressman Ben Cline will also be in attendance and report on national legislation affecting Virginia and the Rockbridge area.
Sen. Chris Head and Delegates Ellen McLaughlin and Terry Austin have been invited to discuss other state legislation issues.
At the mass meeting, a local chairman will be elected and delegates to the district convention will also be elected as required every two years.
