Walker Creek Cabinet Works suffered a devastating fire.
- The Board of Supervisors decided to buy land near the intersection of U.S. 60 and Interstate 81 that could potentially be used as a transfer station for shipping garbage out of the area after the closing of the county landfill.
- Phyllis Schlafly was slated to deliver the message “Feminism and the Dignity of Women: Complementary Or Contradictory?” at Lee Chapel.
