Glasgow Hires Part-time Employees

Several part-time people have been hired by the town of Glasgow, it was announced at the Feb. 10 Town Council meeting.

Fred Smith will come on board as a code enforcer, beginning March 16. Libby Smith has been hired to work part-time, sharing duties with Ashley Kerr, also part-time, in the front office.

New town hall office hours were also noted. The hours will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and closed for lunch from 12:30 to 1 p.m.

Council approved eliminating certain benefits for employees working less than 40 hours. This includes the town manager position, which is part-time.

Remodeling projects continue on the former Presbyterian property. New flooring is going down in the old sanctuary section and the pews will be going to a church in Lynchburg.

Upcoming activities include an outdoor market for various vendors, located around the parking lot of the old church property. This will operate on the second Saturdays, May through October, and will be free the first year. The new “pop up” vendor business located in the old library building on Blueridge Road will open in March.
