Visitors to Brushy Hills Preserve will find a new sign on the kiosk at the main trailhead that was recently installed by the Friends of Brushy Hills.
The sign includes an updated trail map as well as information about the preserve, its history, its biodiversity and its geology. Of particular interest are the names and images of several flowers, insects and birds that are commonly sighted on the trails.
The wooden kiosk was originally constructed in 2003 and located on the Red Trail, about 50 yards past the springhouse. In 2017 the kiosk was moved to its current location in the parking lot. Visitors to Brushy Hills will no doubt remember the stylish wooden map that graced the kiosk; as the years progressed and the trails changed and expanded, the old map became increasingly out of date.
The Brushy Hills trails are maintained by Friends of Brushy Hills volunteers. For more information, please contact the Friends Steering Committee at friendsof [email protected].
