Six Charged In Drug Trafficking Conspiracy

Six individuals have been charged in connection to a drug trafficking conspiracy which allegedly trafficked approximately 100 pounds of methamphetamine and fentanyl for redistribution in Rockbridge County and Buena Vista, according to a press release from the Rockbridge County Sheriff’s Office.

“Let this serve as a clear message,” Sheriff Tony Mc-Faddin said in the press release. “If you choose to traffic drugs in our jurisdiction, we will find you. We are using every available investigative resource and we will continue to build strong cases that hold offenders accountable in court.”

“The Rockbridge County Sheriff’s Office is committed to reducing drug-related crime,” he added. “With the help of the James River Regional Drug Task Force and our local law enforcement partners, we have increased the number of drug cases referred for prosecution and will continue to do so in our ongoing effort to make our community safer.”

The following individuals were charged in connection with this alleged drug trafficking conspiracy: Charlie Byers, 44, of Buena Vista, for two counts of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine; Lee Davis Jr., 59, of Lynchburg, for one count of distribution of methamphetamine, one count of distribution of methamphetamine (third or subsequent offense) and one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine; Sheena Lewis, 42, of Buena Vista, with two counts of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine; Also, Maxwell Richerson, 21, of Buena Vista, for one count of distribution of methamphetamine (third or subsequent offense) and one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine; Amanda Riddle, 37, of Rockbridge County, for one count of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, one count of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute (third or subsequent offense) and one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine; and Kiana Whitesell, 29, of Rockbridge County, for one count of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and one count of child endangerment.

Byers was indicted by a Buena Vista grand jury in January, while Riddle and Whitesell were indicted by a Rockbridge County grand jury earlier this month. Davis was indicted in Rockbridge County in September 2025. Lewis’ charges will go before a Buena Vista grand jury at the next term date in April.

“The distribution of fentanyl and methamphetamine devastates lives and tears families apart,” McFaddin said. “We are seeing the consequences across Virginia, and we refuse to allow our community to become a safe haven for those who profit from addiction. Enforcement and prevention remain central to our strategy. Drug traffickers who choose to operate here should understand that we are working together, sharing intelligence, and actively pursuing those who profit from addiction. If you bring drugs into our community, you will be investigated, charged, and held accountable.”

The investigation, conducted by the James River Regional Drug Task Force in partnership with the Rockbridge County Sheriff’s Office and the Buena Vista Police Department, remains ongoing.
