A ‘Thankfulness Tree’

A ‘Thankfulness Tree’

During the annual midyear meeting for area exchange students, the students met with their local coordinator to share their various American experiences, evaluate goals from the beginning of the year, and set new goals for the remainder of the year focusing on the program principles of leadership, volunteerism, U.S. society, U.S. government, and understanding other cultures. After the discussion they collectively made a “Thankfulness Tree” poster. On the poster each student wrote down everything they are thankful for on a “handprint leaf.” They included such topics as host families, travel, friends, school, teachers, their faith, band, and many other opportunities they experienced. Pictured are (from left) Juan Kim (South Korea), Ida Herbst (Germany), Ruwaidah Islam (Bangladesh) and Aya Nsour (Jordan).
