Grants Offered For Small Projects In Historic Areas
Historic Lexington Foundation has announced a new Community Microgrant Program, designed to assist homeowners in historic neighborhoods with projects that help preserve the exteriors of their homes and, as a result, the character of their neighborhoods.
With this program, HLF will award up to 10 grants annually, limited to $5,000 each, to fund smaller projects such as repairs to front porches, roofs, or restoration of doors and windows.
Applications may be submitted at any time, and the HLF review committee will meet twice a year (spring and fall) to review applications and select grant recipients. Up to five projects will be selected each cycle.
The first opportunity to apply is now open, with a deadline for spring applications of March 15. Grant awards will be announced April 15. These funds are not loans, and will not affect property ownership. This is a one-time, nonrenewable grant.
For additional information about this grant opportunity or to receive an application, contact HLF at hlf@rockbridge. net or visit the website under the Grant tab, www.historiclexington.org.
Applications may be emailed to hlf@rockbridge. net or mailed to HLF, P.O. Box 901, Lexington, VA 24450.
