Esther Pennington, 540-291-2629 The congregation donated cans of soup into a wheelbarrow during the service this past Sunday at High Bridge Presbyterian Church. The cans will go to Natural Bridge/Glasgow food pantry. After the service, everyone enjoyed the Souper Bowl luncheon, which included homemade pies.
After the luncheon, the Presbyterian Women held a brief annual meeting. Moderator Faye Worley installed new officers for Class of 2028 including Dwinnie Shafer-vicemoderator; Lee Braford, thank offering; and Connie Powell, treasurer. Gayle Tolley presented a memorial service in memory of Olive Whisler. Several other items were discussed and voted on before the meeting closed.
The Rev. Steve Willis attended the installation service of his friend Dr. Timothy Allen Verhey as minister at Hampden-Sydney Presbyterian Church on the campus of Hampden-Sydney College this past week. The Rev. Dr. Amy Willis preached the sermon and the Rev. Steve Willis gave the installation service.
The evening circle met at the church at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 3.
The afternoon circle met Feb. 10 at 1 p.m.
Men’s Bible study meets at 5:30 today, Wednesday, Feb. 11, at the fellowship hall.
Small church returns to regular schedule on the last Thursday of the month on Feb. 26.
This year’s Comfort Care for Women Baby Bottle fundraiser is almost over. Grab a bottle from the basket in the vestibule, fill it with your coins, bills or checks for donation, and return to the basket by Feb. 15.
If you missed our annual chili cookoff, you can still bring home a trophy! It’s not too late to enter the Food Pantry Chili Challenge. It takes place at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 17 at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Glasgow. The big question is whether Brad Myers will move up from second place last year to first place? Don’t make chili? Bring a side or a dessert! Looking forward to seeing you there!

The Natural Bridge Food Pantry board meeting was rescheduled for Monday, Feb. 23, due to inclement weather. It will be at 4 p.m. at Beth Horon United Methodist Church. All supporting churches should send their voting representative and all interested guests and visitors are welcome. The food pantry will open promptly at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14, and close at 11 a.m. Special requests for the month of February are canned tuna and salmon. Also welcome are empty egg cartons.
