Feb. 9, 2026 Editor, The News-Gazette: “Gerrymandering is detrimental to our democracy. … Opposing gerrymandering should be a bipartisan policy.” That’s not my quote. That’s not Gov. Younkin’s quote or any member of the General Assembly.
That is a quote from newly elected Governor Abigail Spanberger. The same Abigail Spanberger who campaigned as a moderate.
The same Abigail Spanberger who supported the constitutional amendment in 2020 to stop politicians from drawing their own maps.
The same Abigail Spanberger who said in August she had no plans to redraw maps.
The same Abigail Sanberger that was not truthful to voters and is clearly going against the will of the people.

Rockbridge Area Republicans stand with millions of Virginians — a near two-thirds majority of Democrats, Republicans, and independents — who overwhelmingly made their voices heard when they voted to enshrine nonpartisan redistricting into Virginia’s Constitution.
Vote no at the proposed April 21 election.
