Ukrainian Quartet To Visit W&L
DakhaBrakha, a global music quartet from Kyiv, Ukraine, will bring their sound and passion to the Washington and Lee University campus for two events.
On March 4 at 5:30 p.m. in Evans Dining Hall, DakhaBrakha will be featured in a “Meet & Greet Ukranian Cooking Exhibition and Dinner” — a lively night of Ukranian cooking, food and unexpected new music. Tickets are required.
On March 5 DakhaBrakha will be in concert on the Keller stage. Tickets can be purchased at https://my.wlu.edu/lenfest-center/dakhabrakha.
Both events are sponsored in part by Class of ’64 Performing Arts Fund and the Pickens World Music Fund.
The dinner event on March 4 is part of Lenfest’s Winter Outreach and Engagement Series. Guests will have the opportunity to experience Ukrainian culture and hospitality by delving into the flavors and techniques of DakhaBrakha’s favorite borscht recipe. They can also enjoy the lively sounds of Ukrainian folk songs performed a cappella, just as they would have been sung 200 years ago. Patrons will enjoy a typical Ukrainian dinner prepared by W&L chefs, in addition to a cup of DakhaBrakha’s famous borscht.
Tickets are required and are limited. Visit https://my.wlu.edu/lenfest-center/dakhabrakha- cooking-exhibition to purchase.
Prices are $39.73 for general public. Ticket sales will close for this event on Feb. 24.
