At Faith Baptist Church, there will be a Men’s Prayer Breakfast this morning at 8. On Feb. 16, there will be a Clothes Closet workday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
At St. John’s Episcopal Church, this Sunday, Feb. 15, the Holy Eucharist service will be led by the Rev. Dr. Bob Copenhaver. Many thanks to Brandall Branch for leading service this past Sunday. Thanks also to musicians Bert Buford, Courtney VanOsten and Josh Gardner, as well as to Liz Branch and family for hosting and providing refreshments for coffee hour.
The third annual Church Chili Challenge will be on Shrove Tuesday, Feb. 17, at 5:30 p.m. Participating are St. John’s Episcopal Church, High Bridge Presbyterian Church and Beth Horon United Methodist Church. St. John’s will be hosting the event this year. The event will be held in St. John’s parish hall at 1002 Blue Ridge Road, Glasgow.
The Blue Ridge Parkway remains closed due to inclement weather hazards in addition to ongoing road repair and Helene recovery projects. In our area, the current section closure stretches from MM 60 near the Va. 130/Elon Road junction to MM 85 at Peaks of Otter. The area around the Peaks itself, Abbott Lake and the Va. 43 junction is open, but the closure begins again at MM 91 near Bearwallow Gap. To the north, though open along the section between Va. 130 and U.S. 60, the remainder of the parkway in Rockbridge is closed from MM 45 at Humphreys Gap near Buena Vista to MM 29 near Montebello and Tye River Gap.
